This popular university near the town of Sardarshahar, Rajasthan was founded in 1950 on one of the hardest and most backward terrains of those times.
The area which was once prone to droughts, heat/cold waves, and other natural disasters, is today, a cradle of knowledge for the youth of India. The university works towards alleviating discrimination on the grounds of caste, creed, class and colour among the students. It strives to preserve the rich cultural and spiritual heritage of India by propagating Gandhianism or the Universal Brotherhood of Mankind.
Mr Nirmal Sethia believes in the philosophy of the Institution, and the N Sethia Foundation – India has donated the entire cost of constructing a stadium/auditorium for the university, which can accommodate more than 2,000 people. It is now named Sohan Sabhagar in honour of his father.
