Hindu Cultural Society of Bradford

Bradford is the oldest place of Hindu worship in West Yorkshire.

Initially starting out with only a handful of families, the temple on the Leeds Road now attracts some two to three thousand worshippers. The temple is attached to a community centre providing hot lunches for elderly people, cultural activities, yoga, religious education and language classes.

When visiting the Mandir, it is mandatory for every person to take off their shoes before stepping in. Everyone is expected to be sitting down on the carpeted floor in the prayer hall. During service, the Mandir encourages devotees to participate by singing bhajans. The Mandir provides the environment for the people to meditate and reach out to God.
